FARMER BUSTED WITH ARTIFACTS!

Watch this video about a farmer in Italy who found hundreds of ancient artifacts on his farm, and has been charged by the police with selling them.
What is your opinion about this? Should he be allowed to sell them, or do you agree with the law in Italy that says no to this?
Is it "finders-keepers",or do ancient artifacts belong in the museums for all to see?

  3. Wow, I can't believe that they found these artifacts in his farm and 500 in his house! If I were in his shoes, I would imediatley try to find an archeologist right away and hand them over to him to examine them and probably put them in a museum somewhere. Wow, if I had gotten caught seeling those I don't know what I would be thinking they were. I guess he thought that the artifacts were just the last person's, who owned the farm, vases and statues! Oh my gosh, what was he thinking? If it was something the early hominids used, that farmer would sell those even quicker maybe! I don't know.

  4. I think that the farmer should be able to keep his artifacts. But if he found something off of his land, he should return it. I also think that he should be able to put his findings in a museum. But I don't think he should sell his things. So if the farmer found the artifact he should be able to keep it, sell it, or put it in a museum.

  6. I think that he should be arrested for selling them. But if he kept them I think that he shouldn't have been arrested. But since he sold them I think he should go to jail because some of the artifacts could have told us more information about the people who used the artifacts.

  7. I think that he has a right to do what he wants with them since they were on HIS PROPERTY. But, I also see how the goverment would want them in a museum. So, I think he should give them to the museum, but be paid 100% of the artifact's value.

  10. If there is a law, the man should follow it. He is a citizen of Italy, so he should follow the laws set for him. They are on his land however, so this is a tricky subject.... But laws are laws, and as much as I'd like to believe that finders keepers losers weepers is true, the rules apply to everyone. If he lived in a time where there was a tyrant ruler, he'd probably get killed! Though the subject is touchy, and I'd like to keep the artifacts I found, I believe that the man did disobey the law by selling the artifacts. If he didn't make money off of them, it would be different, but I still think he broke the law so arrest was necessary.

  12. BUSTED! The farmer "thought" that he could get away with selling ancient artifacts, but he was sooo wrong!!! I, for one, think that he should face the death penalty for what he did. He dishonored his family, his nation, and most importantly... HE DISHONORED HIS LOCAL MUSEUM! I do feel a little bad for him, though.
    DODSON12 OUT!

  13. i think that the farmer should keep the artifacts he found on his own property. I think it is wrong to make a law like that is you found something on your own property. i mean if you found something really cool on your property wouldn't you want to keep it.... think about that!

  14. I think that the ancient artifacts should be the farmers property but he shouldnt of sold some of the artifacts. He could of gave some of them to the archeologists, and kept some of them for himself, but not to sell.

  15. I think the goverment of Italy should put him into jail for a decent amount of time, because he disobeyed the law, and proably knew about the law just thought he could get away with it.The farmer should've called an archeologist,WHO KNOWS how to handle the artifcts. He could've made a deal to keep one of the artifacts for himself.Unfortunatlly, I disagree with DODSON 12. I dont think he should be put into death penalty.

  16. I think the farmer should have to report that he found them because they were not his and if somebody found his stuff buried down there i'm sure he would probly be mad that that person sold there stuff. They may have been cool artifacts but they were not his to sell.

  17. I think that he should be aloud to sell them. He found them so he shoul keep them. He also should of asked the police first!!!

  18. Honestly, i think that the bones and artifacts belong to the people who buried the bones, the actual owners are the ancient people. Like Confucius said, treat others in the way that you yourself would want to be treated. Would you want your bones, or your relatives bones to be taken from their property. I think that selling them is dumb. He should of let the archeologists study them, let them get any information, take pictures, then burry them back where they belong.

  19. i agree with dodson29 he should have reported the artifacts that he found so that it could be in a muesem for everyone to see

  20. i think that the farmer should be arrested because its ancient stuff and needs to go to the museum

  21. I say sell the artifacs beacause if that farmer found them he should have the rights to sell them if he like oh god my mom is coming peace!!!!

  22. I think that since the farmer bought the land as his property, he has the right to do what ever he likes with the artifact buried on the farm. At least that is what I say.

  23. i think that its not fair to sell the bones because i wouldn't want to have my bones be sold because THEY ARE MY BONES!!!!! They should not put him in jail because he didn't know any better.

  24. I believe the farmer SHOULD be arrested because that's like me dropping a my iPod at my friends house and then finding out weeks later that he sold it on eBay.

  25. I think it should be the farmers property he should keep it and do whatever you want with it its only fair

I don't know. I mean, they were in the guys backyard, but at the same time, they are historic Italian artifacts that could belong in a museam.

  28. I think the farmer should have been able to keep the artifacts, but i think trying to sell the artifacts on the black market was a foolish idea.
