The info of the Greek culture is so cool.
ReplyDeleteI find it cool how the Greeks created so many myths in order to explain many things. I really like how the myth says that the reason why Winter an Fall don't have a good amount of crops, because Demeter's daughter Persephone had eaten from the fruit of the dead, causing her to have to stay there during winter and fall, which made Demeter let the crops wither
ReplyDeleteI thought it was interesting that how the Greeks burial and how they remember the dead is very close to the same. they also used tombstones. I also found that the Greeks had the first bath tub but used it as a coffin too!

ReplyDeleteI can't believe that the Olympic games started over 2700 years ago. It was started around 776 BCE. It has evolved so much since then. It started out a one day thing with one event. Now there are so many days and events. It started out with a short sprint. I learned that boxers were allowed to punch their opponents when there opponents were on the ground. Adios
ReplyDeleteIf you go under Death and Burial it says that Odysseus would rather be a living servant than a king of the dead. How strange. I would take a life of luxury, and if you think about it, once your loved ones die you can spend all of the time you want with them. Its not like they can die again and leave you lonely. There would be a lot less heart break. Although it also say that he sees things differently so maybe the things you would see REALLY make you wish you weren't there. I don't really know. That's something to look into.

ReplyDeletei learned lots about greeks! in the story the odyssey a greek hero named odysseus is imprisoned in the cave of a one eyed cyclops named polyphemus with his men. Odysseus blinded the cyclops with a sharpened pole after getting him drunk on wine. the men had to wait for polyphemus to move a boulder blocking the entrance so his sheep could graze. the men tied themselves to the bellies of the sheep and when the sheep went to graze the men escaped and Odysseus was a hero!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite story in mythology is the ten labors that Hercules(Romans call him Heracles)had to complete. My favorite of those labors was when he had to clean Augeas' stables. He had to clean them because Augeas (the king of Olympia at the time) had some very dirty horses. So Hercules used the nearby river to clean the stables. He dug three trenches to the stables and then gravity took care of the rest! But I am not sure why that is my favorite story!
ReplyDeleteI liked all the mythical creatures the greeks invented, but my favorite is the satyr. The satyr was a half man half goat hybrid. They lived in the forests and were followers of Dionysos the greek god of wine.

ReplyDeleteGreek drama is so fun learning about. The geography of Greece actually helped with theatre even thought it is very rough. The hilly terrain of Greek countryside formed the theatres of Ancient Greece. There were three types of distinctive Greek drama performed: tradgedy, comedy, and satyr plays. These plays were very creative and well performed and had a great audience.

ReplyDeleteI thought its was cool how architecture was so imprtant to the Greeks like how precise religous building had do be. Or just how simple it is said how they are. Specially in Athens were things like that were amazing.
